Unlocking the health benefits of cannabinoids.

The coalition agreement presented today by CDU/CSU and SPD includes an important announcement for the German cannabis industry: The new government plans an unbiased evaluation of the Cannabis Act in autumn 2025, which came into force in April 2024. The aim is to review the current state of the regulated handling of cannabis and, if necessary, make adjustments. Berlin-based cannabis company Sanity Group welcomes this step – and simultaneously calls for the timely approval of scientific pilot projects for the regulated distribution of recreational cannabis.

During a press conference, the district governments of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Neukölln announced today their plans to implement scientifically monitored pilot projects for the sale of recreational cannabis through licensed dispensaries. Following Frankfurt am Main and Hanover, these two Berlin districts are now the third major urban areas in Germany planning a comprehensive study aimed at harm reduction through the legal sale of recreational cannabis. The Berlin-based cannabis company Sanity Group, which has been operating dispensaries for a similar scientific pilot project in Switzerland’s Basel-Landschaft canton for about a year, will also be responsible for the operational management of the dispensaries in Berlin, as it will be in Frankfurt and Hanover.
